ADNEC Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day
(27 August 2017)

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) celebrated the third annual Emirati Women’s Day themed ‘Women are Partners in Giving’. Coinciding with the UAE’s ‘Year of Giving’ initiative, this year’s celebration further highlights the monumental role Emirati women play in the country’s society and economy.

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, proclaimed August 28 Emirati Women’s Day to highlight the role of women in society and their ability to contribute in building all segments of the UAE’s economy.

Her Excellency Noura Mohammad Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company said that Emirati women are benefiting from a crucial period of success. Thanks to the support provided by the UAE leadership, they have achieved greatness at all levels. She noted that Emirati women currently occupy leading positions in the political, economic, social, and cultural segments of our country. They have become an important factor and indispensable resource for the UAE’s current and future development and growth.

Her Excellency Al Kaabi added: “We owe all that we’ve achieved to the great accomplishments by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and to the Mother of the Nation, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Together they directed the nation on a trajectory of empowering women. Today, Emirati women are proving themselves as effective and essential partners in building our nation.”

Her Excellency Al Kaabi also congratulated all ADNEC employees noting their achievements on the company and business tourism sector as a whole. Moreover, she urged them to continue with their endeavours in representing the nation globally with pride and positivity.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC, said: “As a nation, we take pride in the accomplished and on-going successes of Emirati women. Their achievements have become the basis for many national activities, businesses, innovations and programmes. With their far-reaching capabilities, not only have they bolstered the UAE’s lofty reputation abroad, but they have also contributed to the advancement of socio-economic sectors in the country. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that this year’s celebration has been themed ‘Women are Partners in Giving’”.

Al Dhaheri continued: “At ADNEC, we support Emirati female talent by developing and offering training and career programmes that help showcase their creativity, innovation and ability. In-line with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, ADNEC is keen to foster an environment that encourages Emirati women to lead in the business tourism sector - one of the most crucial sectors of the country’s economy.”

In the first six months of 2017, ADNEC’s Emiratisation rate reached 62 per cent. Moreover, Emirati’s now occupy 80 per cent of ADNEC’s senior management positions. During the same period, the company’s female Emiratisation rate increased to 31 per cent. Also, 12 Emirati female employees joined the UAE Competency Training Programme at the London’s premier event venue and a wholly owned subsidiary of ADNEC – ExCeL London.
